Application for Scholarships

This scholarship was established to encourage and support individuals who are Deaf or plan to become Deaf Interpreters as they develop their knowledge and skills. A limited number of scholarships is available.
Scholarship Award
Applicants may be awarded full or partial scholarships, depending on financial need, strength of application, likelihood of continuing the path towards working as a Deaf interpreter and other factors.
Scholarship Amount
Full or partial scholarship covering registration/meals or registration/meals and lodging at DIC II from July 12 to 16, 2017.
Eligibility
Applicants must be Deaf or Hard of Hearing and fluent in ASL
Preference is given to applicants who have at least a Bachelor’s degree or are current students actively working towards a Bachelor's degree and are actively studying to become Deaf interpreters.

You must be able to attend the entire Deaf Interpreter Conference (defined as arriving no later than 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12 and leaving no earlier than 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 16).
Selection Criteria (all information will be strictly confidential)
Two parts: Video and Essay (It is NECESSARY for you to do all items explained below BEFORE you click the application button)
In a Youtube or Vimeo video (no longer than 5 minutes), explain why you are applying for this scholarship to attend DIC II? Please complete the video and have the URL ready to paste in the form before you start the application process.
Write a short essay (up to 250 words). Briefly describe your professional plans. How do you see Deaf Interpreting being part of your future career? What do you hope to learn at Deaf Interpreter Conference II? Please have this essay completed prior to starting the application and have it ready to paste into the form.
Submit your resume via the prompt in the application form. You will be asked to attach your resume and then just click send. Please have your resume ready to attach.
Please select a Deaf individual who knows you and your skills provide a reference in a YouTube or Vimeo video. This person will need to share why they think you should be awarded a scholarship (no more than 5 minutes). Please provide the name, contact information and paste their video URL into the appropriate places on the application form.
Post Conference: In approximately a week after the conference ends, you will need to provide a brief YouTube or Vimeo video describing your experiences at DIC II and what you have learned at the conference. The video may be used for publicity, recruitment and other uses on our website and posted in FaceBook. You will be given instructions on where to send the video link.
The award decisions will be made by the DIC II Scholarship Committee. The Scholarship Committee consists of members of the DIC II committee. All selections are final.
The scholarship winners will be notified via email by June 3, 2017.
