DIC 2 Logo Announcement!

Hello!

I am Jay Krieger.

I am on the DIC2 committee. We have been working to develop logo for our conference. That logo is what our conference will be based on. We went through different designs and changes. Many different ideas were thrown in. We also asked outside of committee for help. We have been exchanging ideas.

Finally things start to progress. Then our theme was decided on. Then the logo was revised to match the theme. I am thrilled to share our logo. Curious? Before I show you the logo, this effort is based on group effort. We all contributed and the design evolved. I will show you the logo, and then explain the meaning behind the logo. Ready? Curious?

The yellow banner shows our theme. Evolve. Embrace. Empower. That matches our profession. Our profession is new, deaf interpreting. We evolved. Sharing different experiences. Later we start to embrace our profession. Embrace. Then it leads to empowering to others.
So, the logo shows three individuals. No, they are not family, and not of different heights. Actually they are standing behind. The smallest individual is "in the back". Thats our Evolve. The next tallest individual is in the middle. That is our Embrace. Then the tallest individual "in the front". That is our Empower.

The colors show our diversity. Notice several hands scattered above, that is our signing hands. Deaf Interpreters always use our hands. Mixed colors and sizes represent contributions from all individuals coming from different journeys. So all hands are mixed and sign.
Notice the diamond shape. That represents our ASL as a language. Linguistics noted that in ASL, it tends to present main point, then expand on the point, then back to the point. So that diamond shape starts with the initial point on the top, expand on the sides, and then back to the point at the bottom.
